چکیده

The main purpose of this article is to describe interaction between physiology of lactation and milking machine. This is important in order to avoid bad influ ences (such as: high somatic cell count (SCC), mastitis, etc.). The paper is divided into two parts: The anatomy part describes udder characteristics needed for healthy udder and high milk yield. The milking machine part describes milking machine parameters needed for good and easy milking. The main conclusions on udder physiology and milking machine interaction showed that the most important good milking machine routine, regular cow hygiene, regular cow mastitis control, milk ing pleasant to the cows and presence of three most important hormones (oxytocine, prolactin and growth hormone) for lactation.

Sensors and management support in high-technology milking.

Two directions can be distinguished in the development of high-tech milking equipment: 1) high-capacity milking parlors with a high throughput of cows per person per hour and 2) automatic milking systems in which manual labor is replaced by a milking robot. High-capacity milking parlors are developed in such a way that one operator is able to milk many cows, partly by automation and partly by o...

Effect of Milking Frequency on the Lactation Performance and Lactation Curve of Holstein Dairy Cows in Iran

The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of milking frequency (three times daily vs. two times daily) on the lactation curve shape, partial and 305-d lactation performance in Holstein dairy cows in Iran. Data from February 2000 to December 2012 comprising 217345 lactations on 141364 cows distributed in 324 herds collected by the Animal Breeding Center of Iran were used. The mean milk...

Impact of Oxytocin-Milking Method on Lactation Performance and Lactation Length of Sheep

Determination of milk yield potential using an accurate method is essential for assessing nutritional requirements, evaluation of genetic potential, lamb growth and survival, management decisions and improving performance traits of sheep flocks. Exogenous oxytocin injection is applied to estimate milk secretion rate in sheep. Oxytocin is a neurohormone produced in the hypothalamo-neurohypophysi...

Preliminary Observations on Milk Flow and Udder Morphology Traits of East Friesian Crossbred Dairy Ewes

Milk yield, milk flow, and udder morphology traits were measured in 72 East Friesian crossbred multiparous ewes to estimate the variation in milk flow patterns present in this research flock, and to asses the repeatability of these measurements and their relationships with other lactation traits. A special milk flow apparatus designed for dairy ewes was used on two consecutive morning milkings ...

Physiologic Factors That Modify the Efficiency of Machine Milking in Dairy Ewes

Machine milking efficiency can be summarized as the recuperation of the maximum amount of milk in the shortest amount of time without causing harm to the udder and without any intervention by the milker. This is to say that once the teat cups have been placed on the dairy ewe, the milking machine should be able to quickly remove all of the secreted milk that has accumulated in the udder. Failur...
